All At Sea Now But Leaving Very Soon

They don't know me
They only fear me
Under a tranquil gun metal sky
Beneath silver slick sea
This is my territory
I hunger
I must feed
I move in fast
Deep within this oceanic sanctuary
Mother earth bathed in amniotic fluid
This aquatic microcosm that you explore
This is my home

A cry goes up
Lifting like a bird taking flight
Bubbles coming to the surface
Radio static fading on the two- way
Then a voice explodes in warning across the channel
It is thick with distress
Like never before
In this tranquil island playground
The trees are still in the soft clouded light
There has been a hit on the north side
Everybody out

I hunger still
Coming in like a sidewinder
The boat is now running fast
One body limp
And two mens tears
Mixing on the deck with blood

Nothing more that can be done

Messages bouncing around in rapid relay
Choppers circling overhead
Swirling in a media frenzy
The thick air cut by the swish of slicing rotors

Conjecture obscuring the nature of it all

Sadness coming over like a blanket of rain
Settling on this terrestrial sanctuary
Just off the coast
